I’m a little confused. Can you lead me to where on that page you found those numbers? I didn’t see the things you quoted, but I did see these:
1)
"Women are disproportionately afected by IPV, SV, and stalking.
• Nearly 1 in 5 women (18%) and 1 in 71 men (1%) have been raped in their lifetime.
• Approximately 1.3 million women were raped during the year preceding the survey.
• One in 4 women have been the victim of severe physical violence by an
intimate partner, while 1 in 7 men have experienced the same.
• One in 6 women (16%) have been stalked during their lifetime, compared to 1 in 19 men (5%).”
and 2)
"Sexual Violence by any Perpetrator
• The lifetime prevalence of rape by any perpetrator was:
For women:
- Lesbian – 13.1%
- Bisexual – 46.1%
- Heterosexual – 17.4%
For men:
- Gay – numbers too small to estimate
- Bisexual – numbers too small to estimate
- Heterosexual – 0.7%
• The lifetime prevalence of sexual violence other than rape (including being made to penetrate, sexual coercion, unwanted sexual contact, and non-contact unwanted sexual experiences) by any perpetrator was:
For women:
- Lesbian – 46.4%
- Bisexual – 74.9%
- Heterosexual – 43.3%
For men:
- Gay – 40.2%
- Bisexual – 47.4%
- Heterosexual – 20.8%
Sex of Perpetrator among Rape Victims
• Most bisexual and heterosexual women (98.3% and 99.1%, respectively) who experienced rape in their lifetime reported having only male perpetrators.
Estimates for sex of perpetrator of rape for other groups (lesbian women, gay and bisexual men) were based upon numbers too small to calculate a reliable estimate and, therefore, are not reportable.
Sex of Perpetrator among Victims of Sexual Violence Other than Rape
• The majority of lesbian, bisexual, and heterosexual women (85.2%, 87.5%, and 94.7%, respectively) who experienced sexual violence other than rape in their lifetime reported having only male perpetrators.
• 78.6% of gay men and 65.8% of bisexual men who experienced sexual violence other than rape in their lifetime reported having only male perpetrators.
• 28.6% of heterosexual men who experienced sexual violence other than rape in their lifetime reported having only male perpetrators, while 54.8% reported only female perpetrators, and 16.6% reported both male and female perpetrators”
So, what I’m getting from this website is that about 1 in 5 females are raped in their lifetime, and those are predominantly male-on-female acts. Then, we have about 1 in 77 males, and (although it says “other than rape” it seems to include being made to penetrate someone, which seems pretty straight-forward rape to me) gay and bisexual men experience mainly male-on-male. Over half of heterosexual men, however, is female-on-male.
So, according to this information from the site you posted, when you say “the majority of rapes and other sexual harassment suffered by men were perpetrated by women”, it’d be more accurate to specify HETEROSEXUAL men.
And when you say “The amount of male-on-female rapes is roughly equal to the amount of female-on-male rapes.”, well, I’m just not seeing that at all.
After all, ignoring everything else, how could that be possible when it’s 1 in 5 compared to 1 in 77?
