I hated this episode, felt like they were trying to justify Batman taking over the show.

Whaaaaaaat.

They thought it was going to be the last episode over of the DC Animated Universe, and since DCAU started with Batman, they wanted to finish with Batman.  Last lines of the episode were even the same as the first lines of the first episode of BTAS.

It was the only Batman-centric episode of the season.  ”Taking over the show,” my ass!

Name of the episode is “Epilogue,” since they thought it’d be the last one.

Micron wasn’t in “Epilogue,” no.  He only appeared in Batman: Beyond.  Aquagirl did appear in “Epilogue,” but not in “The Once and Future Thing, Part 2.”

I got my JLU 7-pack in the mail today, signifying the end of that toyline.  Which means it’s time to finally take stock of all of the duplicate Batmen, Supermen, and whoevers that I amassed in the past decade in the quest to get dudes they were packed with.  

When I am done, I plan to just sell them all on eBay for probably five dollars. In the meantime, some preliminary photography.  For example:

1) Man, I am surprised I can only find one extra Martian Manhunter.  Clearly I must have more somewhere!  Did I really only ever end up with just one extra of him?  It seems impossible.

2) My original bin of extras was packed in SUPER TIGHT.  Like, creating-diamonds-out-of-coal-tight.  Related to this tidbit is an observation on how soft and goopy Giganta’s dress is.  Whoops.  

2a) (Not entirely limited to Giganta’s dress.  I had one Superman’s cape embedded in the neck of another.)

3) Woo, “I can breathe in space” Batman!

4) Woo, “Atmosphere-destroying missile” Superman!

5) A sweet ass Scuba Flash.  I have a whole team of scuba guys, probably came with an Aquaman, but Flash is the sharpest of those.

BRUCE TIMM RETURNS TO BATMAN IN NEW DC NATION SHORT “BATMAN: STRANGE DAYS”

The last time Batman appeared in a Warner Bros. animated production in the Bruce Timm “style,” it was in the Justice League Unlimited series, which ended in 2004.

Now, the big-eared, Timm-designed version of Batman is back in a new short for Cartoon Network’s DC Nation block, titled Batman Strange Days, which finds the Dark Knight taking on Hugo Strange and a mysterious, Solomon Grundy-like giant. It looks dark –virtually black and white or sepia — and features Batman firing a huge gun evocative of Gundam Wing‘s Twin Buster Rifle marked “tear gas.”

Favourite Justice League Unlimited episodes.

Double Date

Double Date includes four of my favourite DCU characters; Huntress, Question, Green Arrow and Black Canary.  Huntress needs the Questions help to find Mandragora, and in exchange she’ll give the Question everything she knows on Cadmus.  But Green Arrow and Black Canary are guarding Mandragora as he awaits to turn state evidence.

This episode also reveals that the Huntress in JLU is Helena Bertinelli, as the Question spills the beans, so to speak.

Also, the Question is played by Jeffry Combs, who played Shran in Star Trek: Enterprise and Weyoun and Brunt in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Favourite lines:

Black Canary: You’re cute when you’re an insufferable smarty pants.

Huntress: Oh baby doll.  And just for the record, I usually prefer my dates to have a face.

Question:  The key wasn’t the clue, the key was mine.  Now this list of container ship arrivals I palmed while they were yelling at you…

Green Arrow:  You’re not supposed to drive when you’re angry.

Green Arrow:  Oh, this is so unnecessary.

Black Canary:  Look, if we die, I’ll let you know.
