#transformers #ultra magnus #stegeIn the original script to 1986’s The Transformers: The Movie, Ultra Magnus was not merely shot a whole bunch until he exploded. No, he was drawn and quartered. Thankfully, the Marvel adaptation of the movie showed us this gruesome scene.
(You can see hints of this in the final cut of the movie itself. Before Ultra Magnus is fired at a bunch, there’s this shot of four Sweeps emitting these straight beams towards Magnus. They cut away from this to show Magnus getting hit with blaster fire. And when they put Magnus back together again later, it’s to combine his limbs back with his torso, which makes more sense if he was drawn-and-quartered rather than SUPER EXPLODED INTO TINY BITS like we see in the final animation.)

Guys, yesterday I got the TFP Top Trumps and omg the Ultra Magnus card
What a babe
Seriously, those legs. When you reach a certain rank in the autobots are legs like that mandatory or a requirement? Because their similar to the legs OP is packing.
Also they spelt Breakdown’s name wrong on his card asdfg they spelt it Brakedown
Megatron is the Top Trump u___u
Woo, Ultra Magnus!
Check out that tiny little door at the top of the ladder sculpted into the side of Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus. He’s not a truck, he’s an office building on wheels!
So a while back I got to work a bit on an upcoming Leader class toy version of Ultra Magnus from IDW’s More Than Meets The Eye. http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/generations-classics-44/generations-leader-class-ultra-magnus-with-minimus-ambus-official-images-182107/ Since the toy has been revealed, I got permission from Hasbro to show off some of my art for it.
Just to be clear, the overall design of the toy was already done, based heavily on Nick Roche’s design for the book. What I was asked to do was to sketch up what the interior cockpit could look like within the confines of the space they had available for it. I worked with Hasbro to develop it, and they sent my art along to Takara-Tomy to use for the sculpt for the final product.
The cockpit for Minimus Ambus inside Ultra Magnus functions a bit different than James Roberts and Alex Milne worked out for MTMTE, but personally I think it’s pretty cool that Hasbro took inspiration from the comics and even went to the trouble of using the concept of Minimus “driving” Ambus at all to be pretty darn cool.
I was thrilled to work on this particular project.
