hey look it’s a page i did for keenspot’s free comic book day thing in 2003
The real question is, do you want to start a webcomic because you love making comics, or are you in it for the babes and piles of money?
You have to be in it for the babes and piles of money. That is the only reason to do it. “Liking comics” is not a good reason to start a webcomic.

There was something really off about this. I’m no pro but I gave it a shot anyway…
And if somehow you liked the anatomy from the first one I leave you with this…
I’d be terrified too Batman!
You gave me a much needed laugh. Thank you. :) (Also nice redraw)
eeeeeeeeeeeee
At this point I just can only say: Oh Starfire.
Y'know, Starfire, you might get some better leverage on this guy if you weren’t trying to shove your ass up in the air.
I was reading the No Man’s Land vol. 2 trade paperback today and noticed this. I know it’s Balent, but even for his style this is really off. And I think she’s missing a leg… and organs.
I don’t think she has a ribcage.
equestria-tomorrow asked:
Is that actually true? I feel like comic books are a little behind tv and movies, but that’s only based on a snap judgment. I’d have to see some numbers, I think, before I could talk about why that might be, one way or the other.
Now, if we’re talking *webcomics*, then I feel more confident saying yes. Well, not that they’re so much “ahead of the curve,” because that kind of makes it sound like gay folks are a new trend, but more “closer to reality.” And that’s probably because there are fewer gatekeepers. You don’t have to worry about whether enough people in the demographic that makes ad people happy are going to consume your stuff before you spend millions of dollars making an episode of whatever. You can just make whatever the heck you want for basically no money featuring whoever the heck you want and put it on Tumblr in thirty seconds.
To her friend…
Hey now, you could also be Big Ethel.

First things first, when I first started out, there were like maybe two other webcomics. It was 1997. They weren’t even called “webcomics” yet! Considering my thing was “just make comics and put them up on a Tripod page and not really expect anyone to read them,” and now there are more webcomics than there are stars in the sky, asking me about how I got my stuff out there in the first place won’t be very beneficial! It’s a different world now.
Whether you go for a hosting site or making your own website should probably depend on your own competency level, technology-wise. If making your own website is something you can do or if you can afford to hire someone else to make it for you, then godspeed. If not, find something bigger to piggyback on for a while.
Or just put them up on Tumblr, no big.
Tumblr didn’t exist back when I started. I might’ve used it if it had, who knows.
An extremely helpful reader named Dan H. wrote me this bit of javascript to allow people reading my comics on mobile devices to see the alt-text/hover text on my images. I get a ton of comments about how helpful this little button is, so I thought I would share the code for others to use and...
