You've spoke before about how the cast of the series tends to draw from personal experience. Are there any characters that you don't particularly share this connection with? If so, what challenges do you face writing them in comparison to characters you more personally identify with, like Joyce? (On a side note, I would like to praise the vividly real depiction of Ruth's depression and also can someone please hit Mary in the face with a frying pan)

Invariably everyone gets some small part of me shoved in somewhere, but the character who first comes to mind who is rarely if ever me is Jason.  Jason, like Becky, is drawn from the kinds of friends and friendships I tend to attract, and so that’s where I kinda compile them from.  It’s just a different way of writing from one’s own experiences, really!
