The first plane of Syrian refugees headed for Canada touched down in the country late Thursday, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was on hand to welcome the arrivals. Just a few hundred had landed, but Canada is on track to accept many, many more.

Some great news! There will be a Community panel at Comic Con this year. No panel details yet. Just an announcement!
That noise you hear is the sound of the Greendale Gang packing for San Diego. TVLine has learned exclusively that there will be a Community panel at Comic-Con after all.
Meanwhile, the mystery surrounding another in-limbo session — this one for Castle — has also been solved: The ABC hit will sadly be MIA at next month’s geekapalooza.
Regarding Community, there had been speculation that given all of the off-screen drama surrounding series creator Dan Harmon’s controversial departure that the show might sit out of the Con this year. But all that talk was apparently much ado about nothing. An official announcement is expected in the coming days, but rumor has it nearly the entire Greendale 7 will be in attendance.
Turning to Castle, there’s no official explanation regarding its Comic-Con disappearing act, but Castle scribe Terri Edda Miller tweeted late Monday that “the show was not invited,” adding, “[ABC has] new shows [to] put forward now.”
One possible bright spot for Castle fans: We hear leading man Nathan Fillion is slated to make an appearance at the convention, although the what/when/where of it all is still being worked out.

The comics community woke up Thursday morning to the sad news that Jerry Robinson, creator of the legendary Batman villain The Joker, had passed away. Besides his invaluable contributions to the medium during its Golden Age, Robinson was throughout his life a vocal proponent of creators’ rights and representing the comics medium as a true art form and creatively valid form of storytelling and expression.
Robinson’s storied career in comics began in 1939, when he was hired by Bob Kane to work as a letterer and inking assistant on the then-new Batman character. During his time with Kane and writer Bill Finger, Robinson created comic books that saw the first appearances of Robin, the Boy Wonder and The Joker. As is typical in cases of Golden Age comics, there is debate as to who exactly created what, but Robinson is popularly credited with inventing the substance of The Joker, and served as a creative consultant to Christopher Nolan’s hugely popular and highly acclaimed Joker-centric Batman film, The Dark Knight.
In his later career, Robinson became known as an ambassador for the comic book medium. As CBR points out in its obituary for the cartoonist, Robinson curated comic book shows in art galleries and authored The Comics, a definitive text on the history of comics art that is still available in a new edition from Dark Horse.

Why should women be paid equal to men? Men have been in the working world a lot longer and deserve to be paid at a higher rate. Heck, I’m a working mom and I’m not paid a dime. I depend on my husband to provide for me and my family, as should most women… and if a woman does work, she should be happy just to be out there in the working world and quit complaining that she’s not making as much as her male counterparts. I mean really, all this wanting to be equal nonsense is going to be detrimental to the future of women everywhere. Who’s going to want to hire a woman, or for that matter, even marry a woman who thinks she is the same, if not better than a man at any job. It’s almost laughable. C’mon now ladies, are you with me on this?

Here’s the whole goddamned horrible and amazing Easter thing we got in the mail all in one post. I think World Harvest Church does this just to force Jesus Christ back from the sky early to topple their tables. It must be a huge temptation for Him.
But He won’t, because He doesn’t want to get Resurrection Seed all over His face.
One last thought – I just now got the double meaning of “the ultimate giveaway.” At least I hope that’s supposed to be a(n extremely tacky) double meaning. It is distinctly possible nobody at that church realizes what Easter celebrates. Hrm. Upon further reflection, I’m not sure what possibility is worse.
Two years later, I wanted to check up on World Harvest Church (Columbus) and see what crazy Easter shit they’re doing this year. Apparently there’s no car or TV giveaway, but there is a circus.
