Did Beast Wars really start out with the war "in its past"? I always thought of it as more at the end of a *pause* in the war.

Beast Wars is set 300 years after the Pax Cybertronia, which was the peace agreement treaty that ended the Great War between the Autobots and Decepticons.  Certain Decepticons were granted amnesty, such as Ravage.  The principle combatants of the war, the Autobots and Decepticons, were barely even around anymore, having been replaced on Cybertron by Maximals and Predacons.  

I feel like that’s a pretty definitive end-to-a-war.
