Spider-Man 3′s problem was never too many villains. It was that they rushed straight from the black suit to Venom. They needed to have buildup.
Well that and the dance scene.
Counterpoint: Venom got as much screentime as Venom deserves.
And frankly I could have enjoyed more dancing.
