Batman #1 was fantastic.  The art was sharp and expressive, and the writing was both clever and witty.  It’s easily among my favorites of the new 52.  Seriously.  It’s an excellent comic book.  As a guy who misses Dick in the role of Batman ‘cuz the guy actually had a bit of fun with it, this speaks to me.  Bruce isn’t a dour jerk here.  All praise from me.

That said.

Man, it’s never really been laid out so clearly that Bruce has amassed an army of clones in descending heights and ages.  Dude has black-haired-white-male OCD!  No wonder he doesn’t acknowledge Stephanie and made Jason Todd dye his hair black.  Guy’s got a problem.  Creepazoid.

And, sure, okay.  You can’t really mess with these four.  We know they’re white dudes (well, okay, Damian’s half white) and we know they have black hair.  You probably can’t go changing that around.  It’s grandfathered in.

But then this guy shows up.

Man, he even out-Bruces Bruce!  It’s like he’s the biggest component of a Batman/Robin Russian Nesting Doll.
